UK-Caribbean Founder Michaela Miller Expands Cocoa & Coconut With New Membership Supporting Caribbean Women’s Stories

Cocoa & Coconut, the independent digital platform created to amplify the voices and experiences of Caribbean women, is entering its next stage of growth with the launch of its paid membership community this October. Founded by Michaela Miller, Cocoa & Coconut launched in June 2026 with a simple aim: to create more space for Caribbean women to tell their own stories, in their own voices. Since then, the platform has published stories exploring careers, relationships, motherhood, identity, culture, mental health, beauty and the realities of being a Caribbean woman both at home and across the diaspora.
The new Cocoa & Coconut Collective membership will help the platform continue growing while building a more sustainable model for supporting the writers and contributors behind its stories. For Miller, the move is about more than introducing another subscription. “Caribbean women have incredible stories, perspectives and expertise, but so many of those voices still don’t get the visibility they deserve,” she said. “I want Cocoa & Coconut to become a place where our stories aren’t treated as an occasional feature or a diversity piece. They are the story.”
Miller, who was born and raised in London and now lives in St. Kitts and Nevis, brings a background in human resources, leadership and people development to the business. Her work has increasingly centered around creating platforms that allow people, particularly Caribbean women, to be seen, heard and taken seriously.
Cocoa & Coconut brings those worlds together.
Rather than focusing solely on traditional lifestyle content, the platform features conversations about ambition, work, entrepreneurship, migration, friendship, womanhood, grief, money, family and the cultural experiences that shape Caribbean women’s lives. The publication is also opening its doors to more contributors from across the region and diaspora, creating opportunities for women to share personal essays, commentary, interviews and perspectives with a growing international readership. Membership will provide another way for readers to directly support that work and the future development of the platform.
Miller sees this as only the beginning.
Her long-term vision is to grow Cocoa & Coconut into a recognised Caribbean media and community brand, creating opportunities for contributors, entrepreneurs, creatives and women across the region while connecting Caribbean communities around the world. “There is no shortage of talent in the Caribbean,” Miller said. “Sometimes what is missing is the platform, the visibility and the opportunity. I want Cocoa & Coconut to help create all three.”
