Dr. Ian Wilkinson named on Black Impact Magazine's 100 Entrepreneurs To Know.

Dr. Ian Wilkinson’s career is a story of purpose, perseverance, and transformation. Raised in Claymont, Delaware by a Jamaican single mother, Ian entered the U.S. Army in 1997 and embarked on what would become a 28+ year global career in military and civilian information technology. His service has spanned the tactical to strategic levels, with leadership roles in operations across the U.S., Middle East, and Pacific regions, including deployments supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rising to the role of Signal Warrant Officer, he currently serves as Chief Technical Advisor to U.S. Army Pacific, driving innovation in technology readiness and capability development.


In 2020, Dr. Wilkinson founded Cyber Ballet LLC, a Delaware-based IT training and consulting company focused on equipping individuals and organizations for digital success. The company has trained thousands of students, delivered over 16,000 hours of instruction in FY2024, and led multi-million-dollar transformation initiatives across public and private sectors. Under his leadership, Cyber Ballet has partnered with Microsoft, AWS, Google, IBM, and VMware to bring state-of-the-art solutions to local governments, small businesses, and underserved communities.


Dr. Wilkinson is deeply committed to education and mentoring. He holds a Doctor of Information Technology from Walden University, an M.A. in IT Management from Webster University, and a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He is also a Senior Executive Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School and a graduate of the CTO Program at the University of Pennsylvania and Wharton School. As an adjunct professor, he teaches at institutions such as Westcliff University, Webster University, the University of Phoenix, and CompTIA, where he prepares students for careers in STEM and cybersecurity.


Outside of his professional and academic work, Ian serves as a peer reviewer for the Cybersecurity Skills Journal, a volunteer with InfraGard, and a mentor through the National Society of Leadership and Success. He is also an active member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., advocating for equity, education, and community development. His certifications include CISSP, PMP, GIAC, ITIL, and CompTIA Security+, reflecting a lifelong commitment to learning and leadership. Whether guiding national cybersecurity strategy or launching pathways for future technologists, Dr. Wilkinson is dedicated to making technology a force for positive, lasting change.
