Carla J. Hogan is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Statues Like Me, a pioneering company dedicated to creating melanated outdoor décor that brings true representation to gardens and homes across America. A passionate gardener and lifelong creative, Carla saw a gap in the market: a lack of culturally appropriate outdoor statues that reflected the beauty and diversity of people of color. With a vision rooted in legacy and self-representation, she launched Statues Like Me to fill that void and to celebrate cultural beauty in spaces traditionally overlooked.

With over two decades of leadership experience working for multiple not-for-profit organizations, Carla combines innovation, business strategy, and community focus to drive sustainable growth. Under her leadership, Statues Like Me introduced The Bloom Collection, featuring powerful representations named Hope, Faith, and Joy—each designed with intention, care, and cultural authenticity. The brand quickly gained traction among a diverse customer base of people seeking reflections of themselves and allies who value cultural inclusion.

Carla’s mission extends beyond art; it is about creating a movement of ownership, visibility, and belonging. She believes that representation should not be an afterthought, but a core value in every space we inhabit—indoors and outdoors. Through Statues Like Me, Carla is building more than a company; she’s building a legacy for future generations to see themselves beautifully and proudly reflected in the world around them.

A student of the Geraldine Marvell Miller Wright Institute for Women in Ministry, Carla is also a proud graduate of the Regina Rose Edwards Missionary Alliance and Auxiliary Institute. She earned her Bachelor’s degree, with honor, from Baker College in Flint, Michigan. A licensed missionary who serves both domestically and abroad, Carla draws strength from her life scripture: Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV) — "Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

Married to the love of her life, Elder Thomas Hogan, for over 27 years, Carla and her husband are the pleased parents of three adult children: Jordon, Brandon, and Skyler. Together, they are blessed with three beautiful grandchildren: Taylin, Jace, and Kinsley. The Hogan’s reside in Detroit, Michigan, with their beloved Morkie, Denver.
